This unique matched pair of fossil stones showcases a dense mixture of ancient marine life—often called “fossil soup” by collectors because of the sheer concentration of visible fossils throughout the matrix.

Both halves reveal a rich blend of crinoid stem fragments and Cladopora coral, preserved in warm earth tones with scattered fossil detail across the entire cut surface. These stones were naturally formed in Michigan’s ancient shallow seas over 350 million years ago, then shaped and cut to expose the fossil structure within.

Each piece tells the story of a time when this region sat beneath tropical waters, home to thriving reef communities. The result is a specimen that is both geologically meaningful and visually interesting
